YES DAY! Give your kids’ the go-ahead to do crazy things– just for today!

How many times a day do we say “no” as parents? Sometimes it’s because the request is not exactly safe or it’s too close to dinnertime, but for me anyways, it’s usually because I don’t feel like cleaning up a mess or I’m too lazy to go outside with them (hey, I’m admitting it).

But what if we started saying “yes” to things? Yes, wear your pajamas all day! Yes, let’s have ice cream for dinner! You want to make mud pies? Why not! To see your kids’ happiness and joy from a little “yes” makes it all worth it.

Jennifer Garner’s movie Yes Day (see Jennifer’s video below) is coming out on Netflix on Friday, March 12 and it’s getting us in the mood to SAY YES!

Creating a YES Wheel!

Make choosing your YES DAY activity fun by creating this simple spinning wheel! Or, just put a bunch of choices in a mason jar and pull out your Yes Day fun!

SAY YES Ideas!

Need some ideas? Go ahead and say yes to these:

  • Make a fort in the living room!
  • No-utensil meal!
  • Cereal for dinner (yes, the fun sugary kind)!
  • Bath with waaaaaay too many bubbles!
  • Costume day! Pajama day! Super fancy dress-up day!
  • Draw on the walls! (Cover first with reams of craft paper)
  • Silly String (I’ve definitely said no to this before!)
  • Have a party with cake and balloons (create your own reason!)
  • Eat dinner under the table– picnic style!
  • Organize an Easter Egg Hunt in the house!
  • No electricity nights (just flashlights, lanterns and dinner by candlelight!)
  • Dance Party!

Whatever activities you choose, feel some liberation by saying YES instead of no, at least for just one day. :)
