Either online or in person at our center in Portsmouth, we offer innovative camps for elementary and middle school students that are sure to motivate, inspire and encourage creativity. Coding Camps at Sylvan
Blast into big-time fun! Your child will learn computer programming through engaging, hands-on projects. The kids love animating characters and creating video games they can play with friends. Plus, our technology platform is seriously cool…kids have thousands of backgrounds, props, characters and music to choose from to help bring their imaginations to life.
At Sylvan, we offer over 100 lessons for coding, and we’re excited to find the right ones for your child’s interests and abilities. Some of the aspects of our coding camps you and your child will enjoy best are:
- The Tynker platform allows students to build programs using code blocks yet also see the JavaScript coding language they are using as well.
- Some lessons focus on students building different types of video games, while others will go more in-depth on animation of characters and scenes that students are building.
- The 6:1 student to teacher ratio eliminates common frustrations of coding their own programs because an expert teacher is able to help them through any roadblocks.
- Once students attend a course, they have 24/7 access to the lessons they worked on so that they can access them at home to continue to build cool projects.

Reading Edge Camps at Sylvan
Develop key reading foundational skills in the areas of phonics/word analysis, vocabulary, fluency & comprehension. Your child’s progress will be shared with you.
You child will collaborate with peers to complete fun, engaging, online literacy activities and become more confident and proficient in reading foundational skills. *Limited yet targeted homework

Math Edge Camps at Sylvan
Sylvan Math Edge is for children in grades 4th and up. Sylvan Math Edge Club is appropriate for grades 4-7 and students in Algebra 1&2 and Geometry. Early math levels will receive access to an online portal to continue the math fun at home. Your child’s progress will be shared with you.
Sylvan Math Edge Camp
Your child will team up with peers to tackle math enrichment, sharpen skills, and become faster, more accurate, and more confident with math. Early math levels will also compete in brain booster activities each session. *Limited yet targeted homework

Sylvan Camps are Fun & Smart Activities for Kids!
Our camps have small group sizes and offer fun, collaborative activities that allow for great camaraderie and socialization opportunities with like-minded kids. We’ve created our own proprietary curriculum that encourages innovation, creativity and critical thinking. Our courses also meet Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS) which means your child is learning the skills, concepts and vocabulary to excel in school and in future careers!
