Holiday Open House at Creek Farm

November 14, 2022 @ 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM

FREE

PORTSMOUTH, N.H. (Nov. 14, 2022) – Join the Society for the Protection of New Hampshire Forests for its First Annual Open House at the Forest Society Education Center at Creek Farm on Saturday, December 3 from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Visitors will enjoy hot cider and crafts with the Forest Society, GoodWork Seacoast, and neighbors at Little Harbor Chapel during this Holiday Open House. The Open House is free, however registration is required.

Once part of the 18th-century farm of royal Governor Benning Wentworth, the Creek Farm coastal hideaway borders the shoreline of tidal Sagamore Creek. The historic Carey Cottage, built in 1887, is newly renovated and now leased by GoodWork Seacoast, a nonprofit organization. The Forest Society Education Center at Creek Farm, also newly renovated and formerly known as the carriage house, hosts educational programs run by the Forest Society, guided walks for the public, and summer camps run by the Gundalow Company.

The Holiday Open House will give the public an opportunity to make crafts, listen to a talk about conifers, meet photographer Michael Sterling, explore the Carey Cottage and Music Room, enjoy treats at Little Harbor Chapel, learn about the work of GoodWork Seacoast, and even pick up Christmas trees locals may have ordered from the Forest Society’s The Rocks Christmas Tree Farm.

“We are very excited to welcome the public to the Little Harbor area to explore,” states Sarah Kern, Creek Farm education program coordinator for the Society for the Protection of New Hampshire Forests. “This is our first Holiday Open House, and we hope to share the wonder of Little Harbor. Creek Farm is a beautiful property, the Little Harbor Chapel a hidden gem in the Little Harbor woods, and Goodwork Seacoast is making a lasting impression on our community by fostering non-profit startups.”

The Forest Society Education Center at Creek Farm is located at 400 Little Harbor Road, Portsmouth, NH.
