$5 per child (5-18)/$10 per adult; $25 for family of 4 or more, children under 5 are free.
On January 1, 1851, Charlotte Ladd Coues published an article she wrote for the Portsmouth Journal, in which she described the new holiday traditions that were beginning to take hold in New England, including stockings hung by the fire, Christmas trees, and tales of old Saint Nicholas! Come visit the Moffatt-Ladd House as we re-imagine what the Ladd family might have done to prepare for celebrating the holiday – decorating the house, setting up Christmas trees, making gifts, preparing a holiday meal for friends and family, and spending time with each other. Visitors will meet Charlotte, her mother Maria, and their family as they walk through the festively decorated first floor of the Moffatt-Ladd House. We’ll have readings of ‘Twas the Night Before Christmas, a holiday craft for the little ones, refreshments, and even a visit from the jolly man himself, Santa! Join us for this first-ever early Victorian Christmas at the Moffatt-Ladd House!
