Bigfoot Scavenger Hunt Downtown Rochester

August 11, 2023

Free
Rochester Main Street welcomes children and families to participate in the most unusual scavenger hunt in Rochester’s history… Our volunteers hid 20 colorful Bigfoot cutouts throughout the downtown area, all within a safe walking distance from one another. It’s fun for the whole family! Starting June 12, 2023

Begin by scanning the QR code on the Bigfoot display at City Hall, located at 31 Wakefield Street. The website works best on a mobile device. Once the website loads, locate the rest of the Bigfoot cutouts by solving a series of fun clues.

Along the way, snap photos and post them with the hashtag #RochesterBigfoot. Once you’ve located all the Bigfoot cutouts, enter your name and contact information to win a $25 gift certificate to a downtown business of your choice. Winners will be selected in September.

ROCHESTER MAIN STREET PRESENTS 2ND ANNUAL BIGFOOT SCAVENGER HUNT
Rochester Main Street, an all-volunteer nonprofit organization, is pleased to announce the second annual Bigfoot Scavenger Hunt in downtown Rochester.

Last year, volunteers created a series of clues to help families track down 10 colorful bigfoot cutouts hidden around downtown. At the end of the activity, participants were encouraged to enter a free raffle by listing all the locations. Winners received a $25 gift certificate to the downtown business of their choice.

According to one raffle winner, part of the fun was “being able to walk around downtown and talk with others in the community”.

“My daughter Rylie and I had a fun time reading through all the clues and putting our detective skills to work,” said Nicole Lydon, past winner. “We just love all the hard work everyone is putting in to revitalize Rochester.

The scavenger hunt aims to encourage people to get outside, get some exercise, and see what downtown has to offer.

According to Main Street board member Matt Wyatt, the first scavenger hunt was so successful that the group decided to double their efforts this year, creating 10 additional Bigfoot cutouts and clues.

“We were surprised by how many people viewed and shared the activity on social media last year,” said Wyatt. “We decided to expand the activity to include more clues and locations. Many thanks to all the volunteers that helped us cut, sand, paint, and install them all over downtown.”

Participants are instructed to find the first Bigfoot at City Hall, then scan a QR code or visit www.rochestermainstreet.org/bigfoot for further instructions.

“Once you locate the first Bigfoot, scan the QR code to start solving the rest of the clues,” said Wyatt. “The activity will run all summer and we’ll select a few raffle winners when school starts in the fall.”

Main Street president Jeff Bisson thanked volunteers from Freemen House Sober Living, stating “We could not have completed the project without their help.” He also thanked all the businesses for hosting the Bigfoot cutouts so enthusiastically.
