Acorn School gives back this Holiday Season! You’re welcome to join them and help our community too.

It always feels so near and dear when Acorn School links up with organizations within the seacoast community to help in ways that truly give back. What we love most is these chosen groups do wonderful work supporting nearby children and their families in ways that make such a difference. If you’re looking for something to contribute to and help make a meaningful impact to nearby families this holiday season take a peek at some of these great opportunities. Feel free to support alongside with Acorn or contact these groups directly to learn more ways you can help now and into the new year.

Festival of Trees

Acorn School will be participating in this year’s 25th Annual Festival of Trees by decorating one of the trees and this year we have chosen “Scents of Christmas” as our theme. We decorate and the community comes to bid. All proceeds from the festival go to the Community Children’s Fund, providing warm winter clothing vouchers to Seacoast area children in need.

WIC Clothing Drive
During the month of November, the Acorn Community is hosting a clothing drive for the Seacoast WIC program. WIC provides nutrition education and nutritious foods to help keep pregnant women, new mothers, infants and preschool children healthy and strong. We are collecting good used clothing from infant to size 10. We welcome the greater community to drop clothing off at Acorn School before November 30.

End 68 Hours of Hunger
In the spirit of Thanksgiving and gratefulness, the Acorn Community will be starting a monthly theme giving opportunity to End 68 Hours of Hunger. This month we will be collecting saltines and ritz crackers that come in sleeves. Donations will be collected at Acorn School and one of our teachers will be
transporting the donations when she goes to volunteer.

Mr. Bingle Gift Giving
Mr. Bingle is a long-standing tradition at Acorn for more than 40 plus years. Mr. Bingle is the caretaker of the reindeer at the North Pole and stops by Acorn in early December to collect gifts that we have collected. This year we are partnering with an Acorn family filling stockings for children in the Seacoast area. The Stocking Elves is a kid led project now in their 5th year! Learn more about ways you can help support The Stocking Elves here and note all donations go to directly to Operation Blessing.

If you’d like to help alongside Acorn’s efforts they are asking for new books appropriate for 3 to 12 year olds, new games for 4 to 17 year olds, and new stuffed animals that are normal/standard size. If you would like to participate and help with this endeavor all gifts should arrive to Acorn by Friday, December 8th unwrapped. Thank you!
