Reigster for the Gundalow Company “River Rats” Camp to beginning July 11!

Hey parents, are your kids looking for some nautical fun this summer? The Gundalow Company announces its new summer camp program, River Rats Camp!

What is River Rats Camp?

River Rats Camp will be an enriching education experience during which the campers will learn about the cultural and natural history of the region while sailing aboard the only gundalow in the world.

What will the kids be doing?

Campers will be engaged in fun water related activities, including sailing a traditional vessel, exploring the waterfront, visiting nearby parks and creating special projects.  Each day will begin with a river sail departing from and returning to our dock at Prescott Park on the PISCATAQUA, our 65’ recently built, USCG certified “floating classroom”.  Afternoons will be spent ashore for tide-pooling, beach exploring, boatbuilding and practicing the arts of the sailor.

Ages, dates, cost?

The camp has both five day long and single day programs for kids between the ages of 9 and 13. Each program has an education theme and offers a hands-on sailing experience.

River Rats Camp will take place July 11 – 15 and July 18 – 22, from 9am to 3pm daily. The cost is $325 per child ($275 with a 2016 Gundalow Company Membership). Before and after care options are also available.

About The Gundalow Company
The Gundalow Company is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization whose mission is to protect the Piscataqua region’s maritime heritage through education and action.  It operates a traditional reproduction of the flat-bottom gundalow barges that were once prevalent along local waterways. The Gundalow Company provides school and youth groups with a floating classroom where they learn through hands-on activities while under sail.  Daily public sails and private charters are offered May through October.  Proceeds from public sails go directly to support the school and camp programs.
