World Ocean Day Beach Celebration at the Seacoast Science Center on Sunday 6/9!

Seacoast Science Center is celebrating World Ocean Day with a free family festival focused on the wonders of the ocean and how we can help keep it healthy for future generations.

Activities will include a mock seal rescue for kids, tours inside a life-size inflatable whale, family march for the ocean, face painting, games, meet-and-greet with mascots, beach clean-up and more. See the entire schedule below!

Kids of all ages, get your face painted for just $1, which goes directly to supporting our mission to spark curiosity, enhance understanding, and inspire conservation of our Blue Planet.

To add to the festivities, lunch will be available from the Lexie’s Burger Bus, and cotton candy, popcorn and cold drinks will be available for purchase.

10:00 am Family March for the Ocean
This weekend, citizens across our national will Wear Blue and March for our Ocean to help turn the tide and restore and protect our one World Ocean. Show your support and help us raise awareness of how critically important ocean health is for us, for future generations, and for our planet during our Family March for the Ocean. Or, better yet, don your best ocean costume, create signs, and decorate your strollers at our March for the Ocean activity table and join our Family March for the Ocean. Because of the threat balloons present to marine animals, they are not allowed.

10am-2pm Beach Cleanup
Join the Blue Ocean Society and do your part to help make our ocean a healthier and cleaner place! You’ll learn about the dangers marine debris pose to wildlife and humans.

10:30am-1:30pm Inside Ladder the Life-size Inflatable Whale
Walk through the Blue Ocean Society’s Ladder, a 65 ft. inflatable whale, and learn all about how baleen whales eat and digest their food.

11am-12pm Rocky Shore Tide Pooling (space is limited; sign up when you register)
Come explore the rocky intertidal with our naturalists. Learn how sea stars eat and crabs crawl, and get the chance to find these and other amazing creatures that live in our tide pools. Space is limited and on a first-come first-served basis.

11am-12pm The Great Green Crab Hunt (space is limited; sign up when you register)

12-2pm Captain Beats Dance Party
Rock out with some fresh beats and dance alongside the ocean with friends and family.

Admission Cost:

Members: FREE
Non-members: $20/carload (includes admission to Odiorne Point State Park and Seacoast Science Center) Please carpool to help conserve our carbon emission and footprint!
