It’s getting HOT out there and if you’re not lucky enough to have your own pool, you’re definitely going to want to seek one out. Public pools are a fun way to connect with friends and enjoy cooling off.
Grab some lunch, some beach chairs (don’t forget the sunscreen!) and check out these local swimming pools around the seacoast area for you and the kids to enjoy a nice dip!

Exeter Outdoor Pool and Splash Pad

The Exeter outdoor pool and splash pad is a great place for families with young children. The splash pad offers a safe environment for little ones to cool off and a sitting area where parents can park their beach chairs and watch the kids play with the many water sprayers and jets. The adjoining pool is equipped with lifeguards and there is also a small concession stand with food and drinks. Adjacent to the pool area is one of the area’s best playgrounds with giant wooden structures, swings and slides in an enclosed wooden fence. Resident and non-resident season passes available.
Jenny Thompson Outdoor Pool

The Jenny Thompson Outdoor Pool is a 50-meter competition pool located next to the Dover Ice Arena. This pool is mainly used for competitive and recreational swimming as well as occasional lessons during the summer. The Jenny Thompson pool is a favorite destination of many summer camps during the hot summer months as the pool also has a large grassy area for kids to play on. Opening near the end of June, the Jenny Thompson Pool hosts many regional swim meets during the summer including USA Swimming sanctioned meets. The Jenny Thompson pool is a wonderful place to spend those hot summer days. They even host birthday parties!
Pierce Island Pool

The Peirce Island Pool is the perfect place to spend a hot, lazy summer afternoon. It has been keeping children and adults cool since 1945 and was refurbished in 2003 with a new deck, fence, and play area. With a length of 100 yards, a width of 33 yards and a gently sloping depth from 14 inches to six feet it provides plenty of fun space for every age and ability. The pool opens in late June and operates 7 days/week for nine weeks (closing late August). Weekday mornings at the pool are reserved for children’s swimming lessons. Afternoon, weekend and evening hours are for everyone and include 6 lap lanes at the deep end for serious swimmers. Resident and non-resident season passes available.

The YMCA in Portsmouth has an outdoor pool and deck area great for families looking to cool off. If you are not a member, you can purchase a Family Day Pass or print out this coupon for a Try the Y Membership Pass good for one visit.

The newly renovated UNH Outdoor pool is now open! The Outdoor Pool has zero depth entry, swim lanes and plenty of space for free swimming. Increased social space around the pool is a great place to relax when not enjoying the water. New restrooms and bathhouse incorporate a display celebrating the history of the Outdoor Pool. You are welcome to bring your own food and non-alcoholic drink (no glass containers please). Day passes, multi-day visits and season memberships are available.

Fountains, dump buckets, water spouts, mushroom, 70 foot water slide and much more! The Works outdoor pool has it all. Limited number of lounge chairs and umbrella tables available. You are welcome to bring your own food and non-alcoholic drink (no glass containers please). Day passes available.
