Children’s Museum Maker & Food Fest! Saturday September 18th.

The 9th annual NH Maker & Food Fest is back this year and will happen Saturday, September 18th from 10am-3pm.

The NH Maker & Food Fest, hosted and organized by The Children’s Museum of New Hampshire in Dover, is a gathering of fascinating, curious people who enjoy learning and who love sharing what they can do. From engineers to artists to scientists, to chefs, the Maker & Food Fest is a venue for these “makers” to show hobbies, experiments, projects, and for all of us to enjoy fantastic food!

We call it the Greatest Show & Tell (& Taste) on Earth – a family friendly showcase of invention, creativity, and resourcefulness.

This year, the Makers have the option of participating not only in-person at the Fest, but also virtually, so look for even more great inspiration, either online or at the Fest!

New this year, we’re offering “Pay-what-you-can” admission! Everyone is welcome, regardless of the ability to pay (suggested donation of $5 per person). No tickets or online reservations are necessary on the 18th. “It’s a really fun day full of hands-on activities both inside and outside the museum,” shared Cole. “Families won’t want to miss it!”

Seacoast ArtSpot, a new studio in Portsmouth NH, will be on hand at the Fest to share their love of learning through a wide variety of art and craft based experiences. Try out Mini canvas painting, wooden mask painting, or hand sewing creatures! The ArtSpot offers classes for kids and adults year round and you can learn more about them here: https://seacoastartspot.com/

Sages Entertainment, who specialize in entertaining with bubbles, magic, STEAM enrichment, and more, will bring their special bubble tricks and hands-on play to NH Maker Fest this year. They’ll also bring a few robot friends and show off their special skills as well! Wayne and Kali Moulton make up this Dover family business and you can learn more about them here: https://www.sagesentertainment.com/

The Cochecho Arts Festival is collaborating with the Maker & Food Fest this year! The Fest ends at 3pm so we can all enjoy a performance by the Kenny Brothers Band as part of the Cochecho Arts Festival. Also happening on the same day and in the lower park is Magic Fred and the 2021 Ukulele Festival!

Magic Fred
10:00 – 10:30AM
It’s SHOWTIME! Magic Fred is a local children’s magician. This show is perfect for all ages, and the kids will have crazy fun. Magic Fred offers lots of age-appropriate comedy to keep everyone laughing, while the amazing high-quality magical illusions will leave you in awe!

The Kenny Brothers Band
3:00pm – 4:00pm
The Kenny Brothers Band is a “Mountain-Folk-Rock” brotherhood that has been captivating audiences with their folk, blues, and unapologetic grooves.

The day will be filled with Museum-led Workshops as well as all the Maker booths. Under the Education Tent, the Museum’s popular Egg Drop Challenge will once again take place, culminating in the engineered egg packages being launched from the roof of the museum towards the end of the Fest. Join a team or take on the challenge single handed! Also happening in the tent will be “Making an Upcycle Vehicle” and “Tile Art”. Relax on the Rotary Arts Pavilion stage with some Animal Yoga Poses with CMNH Education Director, Xanthi Gray, and check out an Elephant Toothpaste science experiment with Museum Experience Manager Jon Nichols. For all workshops and activities, check the Museum’s website: www.childrens-museum.org.

COVID health and safety guidelines will be in place for everyone, including Makers.
