Hands-On History: Virtual Homeschool Classes at Strawbery Banke Museum

$30 – $40These classes, designed for 8 – 11 year-olds, combine the engagement of hands-on learning with dynamic content to bring history to life. Using the Strawbery Banke neighborhood as a backdrop, each session begins with a multimedia PowerPoint introducing the topic for the month. Students then spend four classes engaging in games, crafts, and hands-on projects. Classes are Tuesdays from 9:00 – 9:45 on Zoom. Pre-registration required.

March 30 – April 20, 2021, Archaeology Adventure: Archaeologists use artifacts to help us learn about the past! Find out what objects archaeologists have uncovered at Strawbery Banke and what they tell us about the families who once lived in the museum’s historic houses.
May 4 – 25, 2021, Immigration through the Ages: Meet immigrant families of the Puddle Dock neighborhood! Learn why they made the journey to America, the obstacles they faced in their new country, and how they helped shape daily life in Portsmouth.
