Gift-giving is not an especially green activity. Fancy paper and shiny bows get thrown out by the bagful, and did you know that some wrapping papers can’t be recycled? Instead, try reusing colorful materials from around the house, such as left-over cloth material, maps, comic strips, newspapers or magazines. You’ll be saving dollars, trees, and landfill space! Surprise!
I always wrap children’s gifts in comic strips. They are colorful and eco friendly– and just plain cute!
I like wrapping gifts for people in a newspaper from the actual day of their birthday. It’s fun to see what current events are happening on their special day!
I like to use brown grocery bags for wrapping paper. It’s durable and looks really chic with some colorful cloth ties or ribbon.
If I have some lying around, I use scrap material to wrap gifts.
We use our toddler’s paintings! Great recycling, a handmade touch, and helps to clean out the art bins.
