7 End-of-Year Teacher Gifts that teachers actually want!
If anyone’s ever popped in unexpectedly at school to see one teacher handling a room of 12+ little ones, you know how hard they work! This time of year is our opportunity to tell those special people who care, teach, love and nurture our children every day how much we value their super-human efforts.
Handmade gifts from the kids are always a winner because they’re personal and meaningful. Here are a few ideas that get the creative juices flowing AND show the teachers how much they’re appreciated.
1. Group Gifts
Teacher gifts can get expensive, particularly if you have more than one child. Get a group of classroom parents together and throw in together for a nice gift certificate to a local store or restaurant. Fun!
2. A Heartfelt, Handwritten Note
From either you or your child (and preferably both), every teacher appreciates kind words after the end of a long school year. Tell them about a funny story, or a nice memory of them during the year. A smile is sure to follow!
3. Canvas Carry-All
Teachers are always toting stuff to-and-from school so pick up a cute canvas tote or recyclable bag– they make some really cute ones these days!
4. Note Cards
Spoiler Alert for my kids’ teachers– this is my personal go-to gift! Buy a package of 50 cute note cards and envelopes from craft stores like Michael’s for around $15. Divvy them up between teachers and make small packs tied together with some pretty ribbon. Adorable.
5. Coffee Certificates
This one’s a layup (if you know they like coffee!). Even a $5 gift certificate for Starbucks or Dunkin’ makes anyone’s day. Throw in a travel mug with a sweet note inside. Done!
6. Tis’ the Season
Summer’s here! Get them something they can use during the warm weather season like a beach bag, towels, sun tan lotion or fun beach to-go cups. Practical and fun.
7. Give to the Classroom
Many teachers pay for school supplies out of their own pockets, so a gift basket filled with colorful pens, paper clips, post-its, stickers, stamps, and other office goodies is always a favorite gift. Calendars and any items that help the teacher stay organized are also great.
Whatever you decide, don’t forget to include a personal note of thanks. Sometimes hearing that is all they need!
