“Outdoors and Unplugged – Birds in our Backyard” at Alnoba this Sunday, November 24!

Come have fun learning about birds!

BIRDS…Have you ever wondered about birds you see and hear all year-round and others who only visit part of the time? How do they navigate? Where do they go? How do they stay warm? Join us on an adventure to learn about the birds in our neighborhood – fun for kids of all ages!

Events Activities

We start our journey at Alnoba where we will gather in our own nest to read The Little Book of Backyard Bird Songs by Andrea Pinnington and Caz Buckingham. This book comes with common bird songs you may hear all the time, but not know who’s making them.

Then we will walk through the woods to listen for birdsong and see what birds we can find and identify. You will learn who makes what calls, and whether or not they are year-round residents of New England or if they’re preparing to migrate.

While we walk we will gather pine-cones to make beautiful and nutritious feeders to decorate the trees around the farm. You can come watch the birds enjoying the snacks you made while you say hi to the goats!

Note: We adventure out in rain, snow or shine because walking in the woods is magical no matter the weather!

And yes, there will be people snacks too!
