The arts are an essential component for the development and well being of all people. Main Street Art is dedicated to providing a place of education where children, teens, adults and seniors can come together to experience, appreciate and participate in the arts in an environment where creative efforts are shared and made accessible to everyone.

Please see below for weekly Summer Camps with a new theme each session. Days are split from 9am-12pm for children ages 5-8 and 2pm-5pm for children ages 9-13.

Camp & Registration Info:

  • All camps are $150 per week.
  • $50 deposit is require upon registration to hold your spot in camp.

*Note this is a three day camp due to July 4 holiday; this camp is $90 for 3-days

AM: Young Masters Painting: Paper and Canvas

In this short week, we will have fun creating masterpieces inspired by ground breaking painters and artists. Looking at artists like Freida Khalo, Van Gogh, Mondrian, Munch, Klimt, and more, we will make unique works based on their style and renown styles, while learning to embrace personal expression.

In this camp, industrial strength tape lends itself to super-sized fun as we use colorful and patterned duck tape to make creations that are practical, sturdy and attractive. Projects will include a wallet/clutch, flower pen, friendship bracelets, personal blackboard, and more decorative projects.

Part crafts, part fine art and total fun! Shelby will lead projects such as no sew t-shirts bags, tie-dye, alternative batik methods, functional decorative arts and a huge burger surprise. This camp will be very hands on and thoroughly entertaining. With so much variety, students will love this camp.

Week 6: July 31 – August 4

AM: Faerie Houses: Mystical Scenes

Faerie Houses are back and better than ever! Our emphasis will be on individual scenes and fantastical vignettes depicting the fairest and most imaginative scenes possible. The resident faeries will be delighted by your creative adventures!

This intensive photography camp will focus on alternative processes and expressive ways to personalize a genre that has become quite automated. Using our own images, we will manipulate and change the surface to allow the presence of our hands to shine through. Projects will include photo transfer, 3D project, group collaboration and more. No previous experience necessary, please have access to a DSLR or point and shoot with at least 12mp. Please ask if you have questions or are unable to have a camera.

Week 7: August 7-11

STEAM adds art and design to the STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics) curriculum to encourage creative solutions. This camp will build on this idea with fun, creative STEAM inspired projects.

PM: Model Homes: Garden Houses

Model homes makes a comeback with this camp designed to exercise imagination and pragmatism. We will conceive and design a dwelling based on available resources found in mature, and then construct these mini abodes. Concepts will include upcycling, sustainability, creativity, self-expression, and inventiveness. We will use materials including clay, wood, glass, metal, fabric and more, all with an awareness of reusing, reducing and getting inventive!

Week 8: August 14-18

AM: Creatures & Robots

In this fun 2 & 3D camp students will be using a lot of imagination along with clay, wire, and much more to create a menagerie of amazing things.   Students will be drawing and painting their ideas and then will construct their concepts.  They will be putting together 3 dimensional assemblage robots made from nuts, bolts, boxes, and tins and what ever else we can find to capture these wonderful characters. Imaginary creatures can be made from clay, cardboard, wire, yarn and buttons and small animals will be developed out of plaster.

Using traditional materials like wire, wood, fabric, paper, plaster and more, students will have their minds and hands engaged as they learn about masters while discovering personal expression. Some projects will include figures made from wire, masking tape, and plaster, paper and foam core food sculpture, weaving, abstract paper sculptures, Louise Nevelson-esque reliefs and so much more! This is a not to be missed camp.

    I love the way you have set up these camp classes. You have them seperate by ages one under another. Makes it easy to find.
