Hampton KatDancin’ Studio is a community space open to individuals of all ages and skill levels for classes in dance, fitness, drama, and art. We promote a healthy atmosphere and attitude towards learning. We encourage everyone who wants to cultivate their creative side, to come and “express yourself”!

Have fun with your fingers! Express yourself, experiment, create, discover! We have fun exploring boundaries by learning skills separately and then combining them and layering them, mixing medias to create something new and different. Some of the techniques we will be using are: drawing, stenciling, painting, decoupage, paper mache, fabric painting, beading, creating functional art pieces, etc. We also use these skills to create props, masks, costumes, and scenery for plays.

Have fun pretending to be somebody else! Learn how to throw your voice, show various expressions with your face and your body language, explore shape and space and how to use them to convey meaning, play with accents and character studies, learn how to tell something without uttering a single word. Through imaginative play, mime, mirroring, movement and many other theater games, we will explore a range of feelings and emotions and actions that will prepare you to present them to each other or an audience. At the end of the session, we will put on a play!

Zumba Kids
Dates: Thursdays; 4:00pm (ages 5-9)
6 week session from October 9 – November 13

Zumba Kids includes a warm up, style review, choreography, movement games, cool down and prizes. They will learn Latin dance styles (Salsa, Mambo,Cumbia, Cha Cha, etc.) as well as Hip Hop, Reggaeton, Calypso, African, and more. Kids love the music, the energy, and the chance to express themselves in their own dance style. It has been known to improve social and emotional skills as well as mood. So come have some fun while you take care of your body. (Don’t forget to ask about our Zumbatonic Birthday Parties!)

Kids will use different dance styles, such as modern, creative, pop, lyrical, cultural, and even ASL(American Sign Language), to express feelings of gratitude, appreciation, and thanksgiving in thoughtful, meaningful, joyful movement.
