Crazy for butterflies? Check out The Butterfly Place!

On a recent trip to Key West, my children and I visited a beautiful butterfly museum. Amazing! Inside the rainforest-esque atmosphere where thousands of colorful butterflies fluttering about the tropical flowers. It was eye candy of the best kind.

Who knew there was something similar so close to home? The Butterfly Place in Westford, MA is home to New England butterflies and tropical species from all over the world.

Having not personally been, their website offers this:

“Walk along a winding pathway. Observe butterflies sipping from flowers, basking in the sunshine and flying freely in a natural habitat. Enjoy our koi fish and quail birds which live among the butterflies. Visit the “show and tell bench” where a staff member is always available to answer your questions and help make your visit fun. See eggs, caterpillars or other interesting creatures up close.”

Located only 5 miles south of the Pheasant Lane Mall (in Nashua, New Hampshire) on the Westford/Tyngsboro town line, it’s a doable drive for families on the seacoast.

We recently visited The Butterfly Place over my five year old’s winter vacation. She LOVES butterflies. There were many floating and dancing butterflies
in the atrium. It was very cool to see.
She really enjoyed seeing different kinds of butterflies. We expected
a short visit but she was so intent on keeping still so a butterfly could land on her,our short visit was 2 hours.
We picked up a cute souvenir for a her,a pink and purple butterfly
necklace, for just $5.00 and she’s still wearing it :)

Went to The Butterfly Place today! So incredibly awesome! I have a 2 year old and he loved the butterflies! It was so peaceful and serene!! Probably one of the best experiences of my life! A butterfly landed on my shoulder and hung out for awhile, so incredible! We are definitely taking friends there whenever they come to visit. A wonderful experience! Thank you Seacoast Kids Calendar, we wouldn’t have known about this awesome place without you! Great job!

There is also a Butterfly Place at the Boston Museum of Science! Check to see if your local library has passes. If they do, you can get up to 4 people into the museum for $5 each! The Butterfly Place is a few extra dollars each person, but WELL WORTH it! So, for less than the entrance to Westford, you get the great butterfly experience AND the whole BMOS! Enjoy either way!!
