10 Reasons Why We Love Screamers Café
Posted by SeacoastKidsCalendar in Restaurant Reviews, Uncategorized
On a recent visit to Screamers Café, the owner Leslie told me some shocking news…Screamers might be…gasp!…closing! Sounds the alarm bells! As parents, we’re always looking for a place where it’s ok for kids to be kids—and that’s Screamers. This fun eatery has been a staple meeting, lounging, relaxing, playing and activity space for locals, young and old. Here are some reasons why we just love this place:
1. They offer parents a place to relax while the kids can play.
Screamers Café offers kids a safe environment to play and interact with fun games and toys while parents can relax in the dining area with a cup of coffee and a snack. Free wi-fi, too. Bingo.
2. Food allergies are no problem.
Looking for baked goods or snacks that are nut-free, gluten-free or dairy-free? You can show up at Screamers any day of the week and be sure to get something that’s healthy and safe…and yummy.
3. Screamers Café will make your dinner.
Too tired to make dinner tonight? Forget that haggard trip the grocer for a frozen pizza and try out the homemade take-out meals including family style lasagna, chicken with pesto or a delicious casserole for as little as $5 per person. No one ever said “home cooked” had to be cooked by you.
4. You stink at baking.
Does the thought of baking a birthday cake or party cupcakes send you straight to the Yellow Pages? Screamers offers an assortment of baked goods that rivals the Hostess Factory including custom cupcakes, specialty cakes, brownies, cookies and muffins.
5. They know how to party.
Having birthday parties at home has become somewhat intimidating for parents (kids running through the house, cake in the carpet and all those dishes, ewwww). Screamers welcomes parties for 10-26 kids and can offer themes that are sure to please (princess, cooking, movies, just to name a few). Show up, have a good time and head home. No prep or clean-up required. Done.
6. They’ll even cater your home parties.
Having a get-together at home and can’t find the time to prepare the food? Screamers offers breakfast items, sweets and lunch fare specific to your needs. If you’re looking for something special, they can do that, too.
7. Cooking classes for your little chefs.
Your child will be hands-on in this fun learning experience! They will make a version to take home and try a version at the restaurant. It’s a great way to show off their cooking talents to moms & dads, grandparents and friends! You can register for one of their scheduled classes or gather a group of friends and plan a class on your own time.
8. Movie night!
Screamers Café shows kid-friendly movies every Thursday night from 6:00pm-7:30pm for FREE on their big screen television. Make it even easier on yourselves, parents, and grab dinner while you’re there! Popcorn accompanies all showings, naturally.
9. Playgroups love this place.
When it’s too cold for the park and your fridge is empty, invite your mom friends and kids to meet at Screamers instead. If you’re interested in whipping up a quick activity for the little ones while you’re there, call ahead and schedule a special craft or cooking activity with Leslie for a small fee. While the kids are playing, moms can catch up over the Keurig. Sweet.
10. Breakfast, lunch and dinner.
Yes, they’re open for all of it. Economical, too.
If you’ve never been to Screamers, or haven’t been in a while, please visit soon and help keep the local businesses thriving. We’d really be bummed to lose another jewel like this place.

Leslie, we love you and Screamers! Screamers is always a first choice for my kids and comfortable for me too! Good food and great prices and SMILES for everyone that walks in. Support our LOCAL businesses, it would be a shame loose Screamers and Miss Leslie!
We would also be so sad if Leslie closed. We’ve been going there for years and love it! Leslie & her staff go above & beyond to make you feel welcome and will do whatever they can to help if you have a picky eater. She also gives back so much to the community…it’s time we all give back to her and support her business. Skip the pizza night out or that night at Friendly’s and come to Screamers. Try the “grown up” grilled cheese…you won’t be disappointed!
This is a great place! The food is great! I would hate to see screamers close.
Leslie and her staff are great! They will make you laugh if you are having a bad day. They all treat you like family!!!! Leslie can do anything you ask her to do! We would be very upset if she closes. This is the only place that the kids can play and you can have adult conversation!!!
we love screamers! great local comfy place where you are welcomed by name and the kids can play! we hope hope hope you stay around forever!
I cannot say enough about Screamers and so sad to see this news – lets rally together and keep this thing going! The owner is so nice. We went to a birthday party there a few months ago and my son is now begging to have his there. It was very well run and I was impressed with that. The mother said it was reasonably priced too and that is what we like. Since the party we have been a few times for lunch or breakfast and my son has a great time playing while I get a few moments to myself. Lots of other moms there too which is great conversation.
My daughter loves the cooking classes so much – i really hope it does not close! We also had Leslie bake my daughter’s birthday cake – it was amazing and very reasonably priced (I think $25 and she even made 4 gluten/dairy free cupcakes for the kids who had food allergies).
