Avoid the parking lot drop-off bin to Who-Knows-What-Charity and check out our list of local thrift shops that are doing good things for the seacoast community. And now your closets are clean, too. Wonderland Thrift

This non-profit shop in Exeter whose proceeds from the sale of donated goods are given back to the community every month via local charities and other non-profit organizations (June’s beneficiary is the Richie McFarland Children’s Center). Wonderland gladly accepts gently used donations including clothing, toys, books, house wares, baby items, furniture and more on Mondays, Tuesdays and Saturdays. Items that can NOT be accepted include mattresses, large electric appliances, exercise equipment and encyclopedia sets. Everyday shop prices are kept low and thrifty with children’s clothing priced at only $1 and adult and teen clothing at $2.
Hours:
Monday through Saturday 9:00am-5:00pm with a late night on Thursday until 7:00pm. Sunday open 12:00pm-4:00pm.

Second Generation is a collection of three non-profit thrift stores in the Seacoast area whose proceeds go to support New Generation. New Generation provides shelter, direction, and guidance for pregnant and parenting homeless women and their infants, assisting them to gain self-sufficiency. Second Generation Thrift Shoppes provide a convenient and affordable shopping outlet for clothing and necessary household items. Donations are accepted at all of the shops during regular hours, but please call first if you have a large donation, as storage space is limited. They accept everything except mattresses & box springs, air conditioners, electronic devices, pet cages, humidifiers, televisions, computers, exercise equipment or particle board.

A non-profit corporation operating charitable thrift stores throughout New England with the goal to help feed, clothe and comfort low income working families by donating our proceeds to local community organizations. They accept used (but in good condition) clothes and household goods from individual donors, estates and businesses. They cannot accept mattresses, box springs, computer monitors, console TVs, building materials or large appliances.

The Fair Tide Thrift Store

The mission of Fair Tide is to provide short-term affordable housing in a safe, dignified setting for people who are homeless and assist residents to move toward permanent housing and financial stability. They accept donations with a 3-bag/box limit including adult and children’s clothing, shoes, outerwear, household linens, kitchen and dishwares, decorative items, furniture, antiques and collectibles, video and computer games, books, DVDs, and VHS. All items donated need to be clean and in good condition. The Thrift Store cannot accept mattresses, computers or monitors, cribs, children’s toys, exercise equipment or large household appliances.

The York Community Thrift Shop

The YSCA is a non-profit organization that assists the people in the Town of York who are in need of emergency supports such as heating assistance, rent, food, dental/ medical bills, camp scholarships, backpacks and school supplies. The proceeds from the Thrift Shop support the Food Pantry and the Family Service office.

Puddle Dock West Thrift Shop

The Puddle Dock West Thrift Shop uses their proceeds to benefit individuals, families and other non-profit organizations in the greater Portsmouth area. They accept donations of anything except mattresses, box springs, pillows or large appliances. They have a large selection of baby accessories and clothing and kids clothing.

Full Circle Community Thrift Store

This non-profit organization helps individuals or families living with cancer by offering monetary aid to help ease the burden of daily living expenses. They accept furniture, housewares, linens, clothing, jewelry, books, CD’s, DVD’s, puzzles, tools, etc. They cannot accept infant furniture, car seats, strollers, stuffed animals, toys, computer monitors, computer towers, computer printers, large appliances, exercise equipment, microwaves, televisions, mattresses, box springs or large metal desks. They welcome your extra bags, clothing racks and bubble wrap and can always use volunteers to help sort items.

Monday through Friday from 10AM to 5PM and Saturday from 10AM to 4PM

Seacoast Community Thrift Shop

The income generated from the Seacoast Community Thrift Shop helps to support the work of Seacoast Adopt-A-Block program which strives to help people (i.e. widowed, disabled, elderly, or single parents) by providing free labor for work needed to be done around the home.

Goodwill store sales help people find employment and support developmental disability services, deaf services, and brain injury programs via the revenue generated by the sale of clothes, shoes, books and other donations. Sweet Caroline’s accepts donations of clothing, jewelry, books, children’s items and furniture and delivers a portion of the proceeds to animal charities. You can drop items off for donation at the shop or call for pick up.
